Arcanaut's Gear & Occult Accessories
Gearing in Occult Crescent
Section titled “Gearing in Occult Crescent”Each Field Operation features a new armor set that has its own unique set of effects specific to that Field Op’s zone. In Occult Crescent, we have ilvl 745 Arcanaut’s Gear, ilvl 780 Phantom Vision’s Gear, and ilvl 745 Occult Accessories which feature main stat bonuses and a bonus stat called Special Attribute.
Special Attribute increases Phantom Action damage by ~1% per point.
Each piece of occult gear also receives +40/80/120/160 main stat. Main stat increases your overall damage by a much more significant margin than other stats in the game. Always prioritize wearing Arcanaut’s, Phantom Vision’s, or Occult Accessories over trying to reach a certain stat tier or specific GCD.
Materia Melding and You
Section titled “Materia Melding and You”Don’t! Materia affixed to gear higher than ilvl 700 is disabled in Occult Crescent.
Section titled “Don’t! Materia affixed to gear higher than ilvl 700 is disabled in Occult Crescent.”In FFXIV, if a piece of gear’s item level is above the duty’s item level sync, all materia on the gear will be disabled. This is consistent with all other duties in the game.
This means, while occult gear can be melded, it will not recieve any benefits from the melded materia while in Occult Crescent. The only gear that can be melded and still have those melds function is the Neo Kingdom gearset.

Occult Accessories
Section titled “Occult Accessories”Occult Crescent Best-in-Slot
Section titled “Occult Crescent Best-in-Slot”The Best in Slot for all jobs/roles is wearing a full set of Phantom Vision’s +3 gear and all 5 unique Occult Accessories (Earring, Necklace, Bracelet, Ring, and Deep Ring).
The main stat and Special Attribute bonuses will provide the highest damage gain for minimal effort. The bonus main stat will far, far outweigh any specific substat tiering or GCD speeds possible as every 40 main stat will increase your general rotation’s damage by ~1%. Main stat bonuses will not affect Phantom Action damage, however, the Special Attribute bonus will increase Phantom Action damage by ~1% per point.
Armor and Accessories
Section titled “Armor and Accessories”When starting out, you should wear as many pieces of Phantom Vision’s gear and Occult Accessories as you can reasonably obtain. By the end, you should work towards obtaining Phantom Vision’s +3 Gear and all 5 unique Occult Accessories.
If you do not have a piece of Occult gear for a specific gear slot, fill it with the highest item level piece with desirable substats.
Weapons
Section titled “Weapons”Phantom Weapons are generally the safest pick! They provide capped desirable substats at ilvl 700. There are some cases when another weapon may be better, but these differences are so minimal that it’s not worth worrying over. A good rule of thumb is to use the highest ilvl weapon with desirable stats.
Foods and Tinctures
Section titled “Foods and Tinctures”Both work in Occult Crescent! The best options are the current raid tier’s consumables for your job/role (e.g. 7.4 is Caramel Popcorn and Grade 4 Gemdraught).
Note: Tinctures/Gemdraughts do not increase Phantom Action damage.
What about Neo Kingdom?
Section titled “What about Neo Kingdom?”Since occult gear now occupies every slot except for weapons and due to how powerful the gear’s bonuses are, Neo Kingdom gear has been made irrelevant. If you’re still working on getting your occult gear, neo kingdom can help you gain marginally small fractions (<1%) of damage gain, but its easier to just bring in the highest ilvl pieces with your role’s preferred stats.
Though with how quickly you would be replacing this gear, it’s strongly advised to not invest in Neo Kingdom.
