Phantom Jobs & Actions
Phantom Jobs (Ph. Jobs) are Occult Crescent’s core mechanic, similar to Logos and Lost Actions. These act as a more siloed version of the aforementioned systems, not currently allowing for any mixing or matching of actions between Phantom Jobs.
Phantom Actions
Section titled “Phantom Actions”Phantom Actions are the core of combat in OC, covering familiar ground as Logos and Lost Actions, such as pure damage actions like Zeninage, utility actions like Dispel and Suspend, beneficial buff actions like Battle Bell and Hero’s Rime, as well as healing/shield actions like Unicorn. Most of these actions are very straight forward to understand, though damage actions function in a specific way that does require explaining.
Damage Actions
Section titled “Damage Actions”To start, these are the only factors that can influence your Phantom Action damage:
- Item Level
- Phantom Mastery (~2% per stack)
- Special Attribute (~1% per point of attribute)
- % Buffs like Searing Light, Lance Charge, Standard/Technical Step, etc..
- Certain traits like Enochian, and rotational buffs like Darkside and Surging Tempest.
- Maim and Mend does not increase action damage.
It is also worth noting that Phantom Actions cannot critical hit or direct hit, even if they display the !! like Gladiator’s Finisher.
This means that buffs like* Devilment, Battle Litany, and Chain Stratagem* will not increase Phantom Action damage.
Similarly, main stat does not affect Phantom Actions, meaning potions and weakness/brink of death will NOT affect their damage.
Nerd Stuff for Damage Actions
Section titled “Nerd Stuff for Damage Actions”The formula for calculating your phantom action damage is:
[25115 x Potency/100]*Special Attribute]*Phantom Mastery]*Random]
25115is the base damage at ilvl 700Special Attributeis1.x, x being the amount of attribute you have. (ex.1.21for 21 special attribute).Phantom Masteryis1.y, y being the amount of mastery you have times 2 (ex.1.30for 15 mastery).Randomis the variance that goes changes the final value plus/minus 5% (0.95-1.05)
Raid buffs and other specific traits (enochian, darkside, etc.) will multiply your Phantom Action damage, so using actions while in 2 minute raid buff windows will greatly increase your damage!
Elemental Weaknesses
Section titled “Elemental Weaknesses”In patch 7.55, North Horn was introduced and added Elemental Weaknessess. All mobs in the Occult Crescent have one and many of the new jobs are able to take advantage of these weaknesses to increase their potency/damage. Below is a table showcasing the newly added jobs with their elements they recieve bonus damage on.
When matching elements, your damage is increase by 1.3 or 30%. With Red Mage’s Libra this goes to 1.4x or 40% increase damage.
Elemental Weakness Coverage
Section titled “Elemental Weakness Coverage”| Element | Ninja | Black Mage | Summoner | Red Mage | Blue Mage | Necromancer |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ice | - | O | - | O | - | O |
| Wind | - | - | O | - | O | O |
| Fire | O | O | O | O | - | - |
| Lightning | O | O | O | O | - | O |
Healing Actions
Section titled “Healing Actions”Healing actions are much simpler than damage ones. The potency listed on the tooltip is the exact amount of healing you will receive. For example, a max level Ph. Knight’s Pray lists 5,000 potency per tick; which heals for 5,000 HP per tick.
The healing potency of Phantom Actions is influenced by % increases like Damage Actions however, Special Attribute does not influence healing potency on Phantom Actions.
Shared Action Cooldowns
Section titled “Shared Action Cooldowns”Some Phantom Actions share cooldowns with each other, even if they aren’t on the same Phantom Job. While an official reason is not known, we can assume it is to prevent crazy amounts of buff stacking. Below is a chart of how Phantom Actions share cooldowns, where all actions in a column share a cooldown:

Macroing Phantom Actions
Section titled “Macroing Phantom Actions”Some Phantom Jobs have useful macros attached to make it easier to use their skills. To macro phantom actions you can use /gaction "Phantom Action I".
Replacing I with I, II, III, IV, V depending on which slot the Phantom Action takes.
You can also set up placeholders in the macros to target specific players easier.
If you want a full list of placeholders, visit the Eorzea Database page for them. Here are a few quick examples for you:
<f>for a focused target<bind1>for a character marked with the Bind 1 head marker<attack1>for a character marked with the Attack 1 head marker<stop1>for a character marked with the Ignore 1 head marker<cross>for a character marked with the Cross/Plus head marker<1-8>for someone in your party.<tt>for the target of your current target.
If you want pre-made macros, you can visit the in-depth phantom job guides page for examples.
